U.S. MARINES OFFER MEDICAL CARE TO VIETNAMESE VILLAGERS - 1965 U.S. Marines in Vietnam show a side to the war not often seen as they administer medical care to villagers. They are taking part in medical civic action projects (MEDCAPs) intended to offer assistance to villagers in hopes the people will turn against the Vietcong regime.
YOUNG MAN RECEIVES CANCER TREATMENT FROM COBALT MACHINE - 1950S Pan down to two doctors examining a young man lying on a table at New York's Memorial Center receiving cancer treatment from a cobalt machine which uses radioactive beams. Cut to control panel of the machine and CU of a technician's hand operating the controls then over to the machine spinning around the patient and CU of the patient's slightly worried face.

SOLDIERS RECOVER IN A FIELD HOSPITAL - VIETNAM WAR Injured soldiers recover in a field hospital during the Vietnam War. There is an exterior shot of the hospital with a Red Cross painted on the roof for easy sighting from the air, a heavily bandaged young soldier is treated by a medical team and other soldiers lay in bed resting or sit together on a bench. One handsome young soldier writes a letter to a loved one.
SPACE TECHNOLOGY AIDS DOCTORS Resulting from developments coming from the space program, new medical technology uses powerful new tools. A medical instrument, looking much like a handgun, is used to implant electrodes allowing heart rhythms to be monitored with a portable external device. The two patients on which the procedure is conducted (an adult male and a young boy) show no evidence of pain or discomfort during or after the installation of the monitor.
