MT. SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE RELAYS TRACK MEET New records are met and set at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays in Walnut, California. Doreen Porter of New Zealand takes first in the 100-yard dash while Al Oerter breaks his own record in the discus throw. James Grelle edges Archie San Romani Jr. out for first in the mile run.
MODESTO, CALIFORNIA TRACK MEET Olympic hopefuls set out to beat records at a Modesto, California track meet. Ralph Boston beats his own broad jump record and the Mile Run is won by Dyrol Burleson over Tom O'Hara by exactly 1 inch.
