STREET FIGHTING IN BERLIN In January, 1919, a volunteer army crushes Germans demonstrating for a soviet-style revolution. Great historic footage of marchers carrying pro-communist banners and the red flag through Berlin. Troops arrive with trucks and armored vehicles. Overhead shot shows smoke from weapons fire and demonstrators fleeing. Gripping shots of chaos in the street. A group of soldiers stands with weapons on sidewalk.
COMMUNISTS RALLY IN BERLIN At a large street gathering of mostly young uniformed men, a Communist speaker rallies the troops during the 1932 presidential campaign in Germany. Various shots show flags, faces of the crowd. Also, Communists try to hand out fliers to busy Berliners emerging from a subway.
HINDENBURG, HITLER POST-ELECTION Paul von Hindenburg emerges from a voting booth in 1932. After Hindenburg's re-election to the presidency, an unsmiling Hitler walks through a crowd to his open car. He grooms his hair. The elderly Hindenburg moves slowly into his car. He reviews marching troops with long bayonets.
SURRENDER ON PACIFIC ISLE On one of the Marianas Islands, a group of Japanese men stands on a hill and waves towards other Japanese, encouraging them to surrender to the Marines. A Marine tells them to wave more energetically. Another Marine searches a local who holds his hands up. Cleared by the Marine, he walks off followed by a young boy. Three soldiers, backs to camera, frame a WS of surrendering soldiers or civilians walking towards Marines, Pacific Ocean in the distance. Troops with armored vehicles look out to sea from hilly vantage point

GERMANS RETURN FROM WW I After the Armistice, German soldiers return from the front. A line of troops marches through an open field. CU of a soldier helping a wounded buddy walk. Horse drawn wagons move through a field, over a bridge and down an urban avenue. Citizens wave, soldiers on horseback salute. A man in uniform holds a little girl and gives her kisses. She looks like she wants to be somewhere else.

RADIO STARS ENTERTAIN TROOPS Radio stars entertain the troops: Great shot of Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone doing routine. A phone call from Just Plain Bill. A correct guess on the Sixty-four Dollar Question. Two shots of Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy. Many great reaction shots of laughing GIs in audience.
KAISER MEETS KING In Berlin, before WW I, Kaiser Wilhelm II meets British King Edward VII. Great additional shots of elaborately dressed officers, including Kaiser, reviewing troops. Lots of pomp. An ornate coach moves down a Berlin street in a parade. Happy Berliners wave from windows.
BERLIN SENDS OFF THE BOYS In Berlin at the start of WW I, troops, some on horseback, parade down city streets. Onlookers wave and cheer. One shot shows a daschund wearing a dog-sized pointy Prussian helmet. A woman leads a group of young soldiers in song. Another young woman pins a flower on a gruff soldier's lapel. Helmeted soldiers board a troop train.
U.S. POWS HELD IN SERBIA Shots from Serbian TV of three U.S. soldiers held as prisoners during the war in Kosovo. The three stand together in one shot, bruised and bloodied, followed by quick shots of each seated at a table. Also a shot of a spokesman making a statement standing in front of flags of the NATO countries.
