RUSK TELLS GERMANS 'TROOPS WILL STAY' Secretary of State Dean Rusk visits West Germany's new Chancellor, Ludwig Erhardt, in Bonn, West Germany. After the success of "Operation Airlift" the West Germans feared that the United States would withdraw some troops in Europe. Mr. Rusk gave assurances that this would not happen.
KENNEDY IN EUROPE They roll out the red carpet for President John F. Kennedy on his arrival in West Germany. He receives a roaring welcome from an estimated 2,000,000 in Cologne and Bonn. He attends mass in the Cologne Cathedral and again pledges that the U.S. will remain in Europe "as long as desired or required".
ZUIDERZEE TRAFFIC Europe's severest winter in generations has made a thruway out of Holland's Zuiderzee as autos make the sixty-mile trip from one side to the other. An ice skating lane parallel's the vehicle lane.
