PATTERSON, LISTON AND CASSIUS CLAY Sonny Liston and Floyd Patterson training for the heavyweight title bout which Liston wins. Patterson tells reporters that Liston's the better fighter. Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) is a loud mouth about how he's going to beat Sonny Liston.
CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT African-Americans demonstrate for civil rights. Police arrest and haul away demonstrators. Protesters are sprayed with water from fire hoses. Martin Luther King Jr. gives a speech. Funeral services for those lost in the civil rights movement. The 1963 March On Washington.
DODGERS WIN WORLD SERIES The Dodgers take the Yankees in four straight games. In the third game Junior Gilliam is brought home by Tommy Davis for the only score of the game and Don Drysdale goes on to silence the mighty Yankee bats. In the final game Frank Howard homers to put the Dodgers ahead and Mickey Mantle comes back to tie it up with another home run. Then, Gilliam reaches third on an error and is brought home with a sacrifice fly to center by Willy Davis. Then Sandy Koufax, hero of the first game, makes matchsticks out of the mighty Yankee bats. The Dodger team celebrates in the locker room.
