A convoy of tanks travels down a road, Russian military commanders confer, shells are fired from many mortar guns, armed Cossacks gallop down a road, shells explode rural and urban targets, soldiers fire automatic machine guns, buildings are leveled to rubble, a soldier running through the street is killed by a sniper, a machine gunner kills a sniper perched in a window, roads are littered with the corpses of Nazi soldiers, one corpse has a dagger sticking out of its chest.
ALLIED CHECKPOINT SIGN - BERLIN, GERMANY An American flag waves in the wind over an “Allied Checkpoint” sign with American, Britain and French flags painted below the letters. These checkpoints were part of the Berlin Wall, a 28-year barrier created by Soviet leaders in East Germany and East Berlin to stop people from fleeing communism for the democracy of West Berlin. In 1989 when the borders between East and West Germany opened these checkpoints were abolished.
