"AMERICAN NURSE" FLIGHT CREW DISAPPEARS - 1932 Itís the last time Danish pilot William Ulbrich, Dr. Leon Pisculli, Edna Newcomer and woodchuck Tailwind are seen as they board their plane "American Nurse" from Floyd Bennett Field, N. Y. to Rome. The trioís intent is study the effects of fatigue and carbon monoxide gas as possible causes of transatlantic flight crashes. Ironically their plane disappears before they reach Italy joining the ranks of unsolved mysteries.
18 DIE IN AIR EXPLOSION Scattered debris is mute testimony to the mid-air explosion of a Flying Boxcar in which all aboard--18 crewmen and passengers--died as the plane crashed before they could parachute to safety.

1947 INDIANAPOLIS 500 AUTO RACE Fans tailgate outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway before the 1947 Indy 500 Auto Race. The drivers complete last minute tune-ups on their cars and the race begins. Several crashes occur during the race, one of which results in the death of Shorty Cantlon. Mauri Rose wins the race and drinks the traditional glass of milk.
