HAVEN FOR P.O.W.S At Panmunjom in Korea, G.I.'s raise a tent city to receive the wounded and ill prisoners of war slated to be returned from Red captivity. Already on hand are medical personnel and facilities, an ambulance train, and helicopters to airlift the seriously ill to hospital areas.
PANORAMA OF WESTWALL FIGHTING Strasbourg, capital of Alsace-Lorraine, is captured by the Americans and the French. Flooded canals testify to the unruly weather being encountered. Tons of heavy equipment have been left by the Nazis in their headlong retreat. And swastikas by the thousand, are trod under foot by sullen Nazi prisoners. Various villages, including Baseweiler, are bombarded, then entered. Many Yanks are wounded. Pursuing the scorched earth policy, the Nazis have applied the torch to many of the towns, causing the natives to band into volunteer fire departments, to save their homes.

YANK POWS FREED FROM NAZIS POWs held in Nazi prison camps cheer their American liberators. They're fed soup and Red Cross doctors tend to gaping leg and back wounds. Nurses remove the shirt of an emaciated soldier at a hospital.
AMERICAN POWS FREED American prisoners of war freed from Japanese prison camps at the end of WW II. Soldiers on dock cheer approaching boat; Japanese guards stand outside camp; prisoners wave American and British flags and wave to the camera; some shirtless, emaciated POWs are especially euphoric.
KOREAN WAR POWS An assault by tanks subdues an uprising inside a prison stockade during the Korean War. Tear gas cannisters leave smoke trails. Flame throwers ignite buildings. A general paces as he watches the action. Communist prisoners in formation run past the camera with hands over their heads.
