MAKING FIRE The importance and ritual of making fire for the Navaho people. Several MSs and CUs of the sticks being rubbed and rotated to create the friction necessary to create the sparks in the straw kindling. A CU shows the beginning smoke and the sparks being nurtured into flame. Two of the shots show the campfire providing light for ceremonial music and dancing. Children can be seen in the background. In addition there is a good CU of an elderly Navaho man wearing a headband and a red and white checkered shirt, also a CU of a man's thumbs. The audio is somewhat garbled.
