In Marked Tree, Arkansas the Red Cross rushes relief in an effort to aid drought victims. The crops are cremated, livestock is dying of hunger and thirst, and there is sickness feeding on the starved bodies of men, women and children. These American backwoods people, almost paralleling famine victims of India, grasp eagerly at food, clothes and medicine handed out by the national rescue organization. Long lines are fed.
