JOHN DOMENJOZ GLIDER CRASHES INTO OCEAN - 1930 Swiss aviator John Domenjoz tests his new glider at Old Orchard Beach, Maine but crashes into the water after the small craft slips her tow lines. The glider now resides at an American aeronautical and space museum.
AIRLINE DISASTER AVERTED IN CHICAGO - 1955 Tragedy is averted by the cool head of a pilot who steers an airliner to safety after it skids off the rain-drenched runway at Midway Field in Chicago and plows into a fence. A deep gash in the plane is the only real injury thankfully.

AIRPLANE CRASH KILLS 27 SOLDIERS - 1955 Twenty-seven die in the Seattle night time crash of a non-scheduled airliner carrying soldiers home for Thanksgiving. The plane crashed into a house but 47 of those on board miraculously escape and give thanks they are still alive in a nearby hospital.

WYOMING PLANE CRASH KILLS 66 - 1955 It's the worst U.S. airline disaster to date in Wyoming, when a transport plane flies into 12,000 foot Medicine Bow peak killing 66 people. Rescue workers sift through the wreckage and remove the dead, scattered on both sides of the peak, hindered by snow and the steep terrain.

SOVIET MIG-29 FIGHTER PLANE CRASHES DURING PARIS AIR SHOW A soviet MIG-29 fighter plane crashes during a Paris Air Show. Footage of the crash shows the plane going through an air manuever then losing control and dropping to the ground. The pilot ejects just a second before the plane hits the ground sending up a fireball of flames and smoke.
