MISS AMERICA PAGEANT 1966 Contestants in the 1966 Miss America Pageant walk down the runway in the swimsuit competition. The five finalists sit down in their evening gowns to hear the results. The runner up is called and the winner, Miss Oklahoma, is crowned Miss America. She poses for pictures.

LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES 1966 At Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Houston Little Leaguers top West New York/New Jersey, 8 to 2, to win the World Series. A total of 11 hits wins it for Houston, with two doubles and two homers included. Houston also won in 1950.
LYNDON JOHNSON'S STATE OF THE UNION 1966 Reporting to Congress in his "State of the Union" message, President Lyndon Johnson calls for a record budget of 112.8 billion dollars as he predicts another peak year for the gross national product. He promises to wage the war in Vietnam to victory while at the same time pushing forward his "Great Society" program at home.
