Thacker and Lieutenant John Ard make aviation history when they fly a twin-Mustang nicknamed Betty Jo from Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu to LaGuardia airport in New York in a nonstop fourteen and a half hour flight. The pilots reunite with their wives at LaGuardia and Colonel Thacker describes the flight to the gathered press.
