M 69 JELLIED BOMBS - NAPALM First revealing pictures of America's Napalm bombs which turn sections of Japanese homeland cities into flames and destruction. Tests at an East Coast Proving Grounds show them to be 500 lb. clusters of 38 individual containers of jellied gasoline which burns at 1000 degree temperature. Actual battle use of these "clinging fire" bombs against the Japanese in Pacific outpost island warfare is shown.
PICK UP RESCUE U.S. Army Air Forces develop revolutionary air pick-up technique to rescue stranded airmen. A test subject in a unique harness is picked up by nylon rope by a low flying plane into which he is reeled.
THE BOMBING OF TOKYO At Saipan, after briefing, the members of the 21st Bombing Command take to their B-29 Super Fortresses and roar into the sky--destination Tokyo They shower tons of bombs and incendiaries on the huge sprawling city as they hit factories, steel mills and docks. Mass civilian evacuation of Tokyo was ordered after this raid.
THE BOMBING OF MANILA U.S. Navy carrier-planes swarm in on Manila and give it a severe going over, from the shore-line deep into the heart of the city. Returning to their flat tops, some of the damaged ships make miraculous landings.
THE ROAD TO MANILA A huge carrier division steams towards Manila. After the pilots are briefed, they zoom into the air, and the Japanese begin their attacks on our queenly flat-top giants. Hits and near hits are registered, but heavy fire drives the Japanese away... and American bombers paste Manila severely.
