CONSTRUCTION OF HUDSON RIVER BRIDGE The last girder is placed to join the ends of the huge Hudson River bridge in New York, NY. A steel strand, raised 250 feet from barges below, links Manhattan and Fort Lee, New Jersey. The span which is 4,760 feet from anchor to anchor and 11,000 feet over all is being rushed to completion for traffic in 1932, at cost of $68,000,000. The towers are 550 feet high.
