Sammy Lee are one-two in the diving. Pretty Vicki Draves thrills the fans as she wins the women's diving.--The weatherman provides some typically British climate, but the hardy spectators remain for further Olympic thrills, including Mal Whitfield's impressive triumph in the 800-metre event.
JUNIOR BOXING TOURNAMENT Scrappy sons of naval families at the Academy embark on the annual Junior Boxing tournament. They practice their punches in a group warm-up session. The youngsters display plenty of pep and punch in the amusing bouts.
SNOWMOBILE RACES In Georgian Bay, Ontario, hitting speeds as high as 100 m.p.h., drivers of snowmobiles or "scoots" powered by airplane engines skip along the ice in a thrilling winter classic. One of the vehicles is badly damaged in a collision.
CITATION WINS THE PREAKNESS Citation, winner of the Derby, does it again. The Calumet Farm's great 3-yr.-old wins the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, with Eddie Arcaro riding. Slow motion footage of Citation at the end of the race.
COLLEGE LACROSSE GAME Lacrosse, the ancient game played with sticks and a built-in basket, thrills a host of fans, as the Johns Hopkins University team scores a close decision, 10-8, over the University of Maryland.
CITATION WINS THE KENTUCKY DERBY The 74th running of the Kentucky Derby draws 100,000 racing fans to Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Fans place their bets. Women drink mint julips in Kentucky Derby glasses. Citation goes ahead in the stretch to win by 3 1/2 lengths. Coaltown is second, and My Request third.
