Weapons are left standing still and the new flag of the People's Republic of China is raised. Mao Zedong shakes hands with people in the crowd and meets with dignitaries. A brief subliminal message shows just a few frames of an atomic bomb mushroom cloud spliced in with the other images.

JAPANESE ATTACK U.S.S. PANAY IN 1937 The USS Panay was a small river gunboat built to patrol the Yangtze River. The Panay was evacuating American officials and civilians from Nanking when they were attacked by Japanese warplanes on Dec. 11, 1937. Bombs are shown hitting the water around the ship, a gunner fires at the Japanese planes.
