HOW TO CHECK SEAFOOD FOR FRESHNESS According to a video program on checking for seafood freshness one should first smell the fish to ensure its freshness as demonstrated. Then look at the gills to ensure they're a nice red color and that the eyes are clear and check the eyes which should be clear and full, not sunken or cloudy.
