SOVIETS RELEASE PROFESSOR Professor Frederick Barghoorn was arrested by the Russians on spy charges. At his news conference, President John F. Kennedy stated the Professor was visiting Russia on a cultural mission and the Russians released the Professor after 16 days in jail. At a news conference on his return, Professor Barghoorn said that in Russia you can be accused of intelligence activity merely by walking down the street.
