GAY PRIDE PARADE Downtown Toronto celebrates the 23rd annual gay pride parade. The huge parade closes down city streets as music, colorfully costumed drag queens and floats fill the city streets. The pride parade is the highlight of the cities gay pride week long celebrations and parties.

CARDINALS PREPARE TO ELECT 262ND PONTIFF Vatican City is the focus of world attention as the college of Cardinals meets to elect a new pope. They will live behind locked doors until a decision is reached on a successor to Pope John XXIII. The conclave takes place in the Sistine Chapel decorated with frescoes painted by Michelangelo.
DUKE OF WINDSOR HAS EYE SURGERY - 1965 The Duke of Windsor checks out of the Eye Institute at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York after receiving a minor surgery on his eye. The Duke wears dark glasses but briefly takes them off before placing them back on and leaving with the Duchess of York for whom he once abdicated the throne of England.
