Adding to their impressive list of victories, the Americans chalk up new honors in thrilling track and swimming events. In the high hurdles, Roy Cochran hangs up a new record.--Willie Steele is hurt but wins the broad jump.--A photo finish in the 100-metre dash, with Harrison Dillard beating Barney Ewell by a whisker.--Highlights of swimming and diving Walter Ris scores in the 100, while Bruce Harlan and Lt. Sammy Lee are one-two in the diving. Pretty Vicki Draves thrills the fans as she wins the women's diving.--The weatherman provides some typically British climate, but the hardy spectators remain for further Olympic thrills, including Mal Whitfield's impressive triumph in the 800-metre event.
