DODGERS WIN WORLD SERIES The Dodgers take the Yankees in four straight games. In the third game Junior Gilliam is brought home by Tommy Davis for the only score of the game and Don Drysdale goes on to silence the mighty Yankee bats. In the final game Frank Howard homers to put the Dodgers ahead and Mickey Mantle comes back to tie it up with another home run. Then, Gilliam reaches third on an error and is brought home with a sacrifice fly to center by Willy Davis. Then Sandy Koufax, hero of the first game, makes matchsticks out of the mighty Yankee bats. The Dodger team celebrates in the locker room.
ST. LOUIS BROWNS TRAIN AT THE TRAIN STATION The St. Louis Browns baseball team arrives at the train station where they begin spring training before they've even traded their suits for uniforms. Family and friends soon join in the fun.
POLO GROUNDS CLOSES The Polo Grounds is about to give way to arnhousing development. The Mets play their last game there before moving to a new stadium. Except for a few football games in the fall crowds will no longer pour into the Polo Grounds. Casey Stengel, with his wife waves farewell to the Stadium.
