SENTENCE HANDED DOWN TO SADDAM HUSSEIN & CO-DEFENDANTS - 2006 Someone off screen interprets in English as the judge for the Iraqi Special Tribunal tells Saddam Hussein the verdict is, "Death by hanging." Meanwhile the former dictator screams back at the judge, "Down with the traitors. God is great. God is great." Six of Saddam's co-defendants including Saddam's half brother, Barzan Ibrahim, are also shown morphing from one to the next after being convicted on similar charges for their part in the 1982 massacre and mass torture of the people of Dujail.

DUJAIL CITIZENS WELCOME SADDAM HUSSEIN UNAWARE OF THE BLOODSHED ABOUT TO BEGIN - 1982 Footage from Dujail on July 8, 1982 shows Saddam Hussein being enthusiastically greeted by citizens who were unaware of the coming bloodshed that followed after an assassination attempt caused the dictator to retaliate by killing over 140 people, imprisoning hundreds more and leveling even the buildings of the town itself. Saddam was finally charged with the brutal massacre on November 5, 2006 and executed on December 30th bringing another dark chapter in history to a close.
