PROF. PICCARD'S BALLOON GONDOLA RECOVERED - 1932 Swiss Professor Auguste Piccard's pressurized balloon gondola is recovered from his famous May 27th, 1931 flight in Ausburg, Germany when he and Paul Kipfer reached a record altitude of 51,775 feet. The gondola was left on a glacier for nearly a year and has amassed a fair amount of graffiti from the locals.
