DODGERS WIN WORLD SERIES The Dodgers take the Yankees in four straight games. In the third game Junior Gilliam is brought home by Tommy Davis for the only score of the game and Don Drysdale goes on to silence the mighty Yankee bats. In the final game Frank Howard homers to put the Dodgers ahead and Mickey Mantle comes back to tie it up with another home run. Then, Gilliam reaches third on an error and is brought home with a sacrifice fly to center by Willy Davis. Then Sandy Koufax, hero of the first game, makes matchsticks out of the mighty Yankee bats. The Dodger team celebrates in the locker room.
AMERICANS WIN ALL-STAR GAME 1941 All-Star Game in Detroit, Michigan. In the ninth inning with two outs for the American Leaguers and the Nationals ahead 5-4, Ted Williams of the Red Sox hits a home run Three runs come in, and the Americans win the game 7-5. The crowd goes wild.
WORLD SERIES:DIDGERS BEAT YANKS Behind the sterling pitching of Sal Maglie, the "come-back guy" of baseball, the Brooklyn Dodgers win the first game of the 1956 World Series 6-3. President Eisenhower tosses out the first ball, as 34,400 fans cheer the start of baseball's autumnal classic. It's a battle of home runs, with Hodges' 3-run homer the big blow of the game.
DRUG OPERATION IN SUBURBAN HOME Fire fighters and police dismantle a drug packaging operation run out of a suburban home. Local residents are shocked while teams in hazmat suits work on removing the ecstasy pills.
