FLECK DEFEATS HOGAN IN U.S. GOLF OPEN - 1955 Jack Fleck, a 32-year-old dark horse from Davenport, Iowa wins the 55th National Open golf championship in an 18-hole playoff with Ben Hogan. Hogan, one of the all-time golfing greats, is the favored winner but loses in the greatest upset of golf that year.
