ANNUAL SHEEP SHEARING - 1933 Nearly 80,000 sheep in Washington state are rounded up for the annual wool gathering. The lambs are separated from the adults whose heavy winter coats are then sheared off and bagged up for market. After it's all done the now shaved sheep are turned loose to head for summer pastures.
CANYON RANCHING A montage of shots showing some aspects of sheep and goat ranching in the canyon. Several of the shots shows a youngster herding the animals back to the ranch and into the pen. One shot shows two people shearing a sheep while another shot shows a pair of hands carding the wool, and two other shots show people weaving on an upright loom. There is a good CU of an elderly Navaho woman wearing red rimmed eyeglasses and a headscarf and a charming CU of two lambs. The audio could be clearer.
