THE 25TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS - 1953 The 25th Academy Awards honoring the best movies of 1952 were held on March 19, 1953 at the RKO Pantages Theatre in Hollywood and were the first awards broadcast on television. Fade from the outside of the theatre to inside where a giant statue of Oscar dominates the stage then cut to an aerial of a Hollywood motion picture studio and its lots where films are created.
