PLANE CRASH DESTROYS NEIGHBORHOOD Shattered homes and wreckage mark the site of a disastrous airplane crash in Kansas. Fire officials and rescue workers sift through the debris putting out lingering fires.
LONGSHOREMAN'S STRIKE LEAVES DOCKS IDLE The piers at ports from Maine to Texas lay idle during the Longshoreman's strike. Snow piles up on unattended loads. Passenger's on cruise ships arriving at the docks have to handle their own luggage. The ship the Argentina lays idle as the members of the Seaman's Union refuse to cross the picket lines and all ship flying American flags remain docked.
LSU BEATS SYRACUSE IN THE SUGAR BOWL Syracuse and Louisiana State play for the title in the Sugar Bowl. In the first half, an LSU punt is blocked by Denny Riley which leads to a Syracuse touchdown. LSU gets going in the second half with a long touchdown pass. LSU wins the game 13 to 10.
